intermittent rain to Troy, MT. Once

into Canada, things got dramatically more scenic. We traveled up the west shore of Kootenay Lake on 3A to the free ferry at Kootenay Bay over to Balfour.

Oh, and there was that recent femur fracture, too!
Once off the ferry, it was a brief, but exciting ride to Nelson through everything that Mother Nature had to offer, including hail. Right as we arrived in Nelson, the power went out, so we couldn't call Adam and Ami, our friends in town. As we pulled up to their house, t
hey were outside watching the lightning show! We were immediately welcomed into the loving arms of Yael and Jesse Rae. Yael saw me as an easy mark, and proceeded to destroy me in a game of checkers.

Here is Yael with her pet snake, George.
And here is Nelson's biggest ham, Jesse Rae!
