Premier Lake to Revelstoke

Off we went on Wednesday morning, looking for a little adventure, and we found it. Mark's quote at the end of the day was, "That was the best day of motorcycling I have ever had in my whole life!"

We started on pavement, going through Kimberly, BC and then turned right on St. Mary's Road, which would take us west back to our route to Rogers Pass. The road quickly turned to dirt, just what we had in mind! A left turn took us across a bridge on the way to Gray Creek Pass.

Gotta love the high-tech signage on this route. This is not an oft-traveled road, for reasons that quickly became very apparent. The road was remote and the views were phenomenal--and we had our first black bear sighting. Milo thought it was a truck at first in the middle of the road, but as he got closer, he realized that it was not!

Top of the pass was at about 6,800 feet. We then descended about 5,000 feet in just over 10 kilometers! Crazy switchbacks, raging creeks everywhere. Simply spectacular. This road is a dual sport rider's dream.
Back on the pavement, we again took the ferry to Balfour and up 31 to 31A. Super-fun, twisty-turny road beside a river.

We got a little bit of rain, but we were so overwhelmed by the beauty of our surroundings, we really didn't care. All of our gear keeps us warm and dry. Hwy 6 took us to Nakusp, where we turned north on to 23. One more ferry ride at Galena Bay and there we were in Revelstoke for the night.
Odometer: 1237 miles
