Nelson to Premier Lake: Gang of Four

We have acquired two new motorcycle gang members: Milo and Dan. Milo is an old friend who called one hour before we left Boise and said, "Hey, your trip sounds like fun. Could I come along?" On Tuesday night, he arrived in Nelson to meet us on his BMW GS 1150, a motorcycle pretty compatible with ours (except it goes WAAAY faster--and Milo likes to go fast). His pal, Dan, pulled up on a Yamaha YZF-R1. For you non-motorcycle people, Dan's mode of transportation was built to do wheelies at 100mph, and is not especially comfortable for long trips.

Our plan was to head north to Rogers Pass, but just out of Nelson, when it began to rain, Dan suggested heading to Premier Lake, which was in the opposite direction. So off we went, braving 182 miles of downpour. For Dan, it was not fun...imagine holding your head directly up to a shower spout for several hours.

We arrived at his wife's family compound, which they've had since the 1930's. Below is a view from the main cabin. The fish we rising, but they weren't too interested in doing business with us...

  1. Beautiful. Did you ever imagine you'd say you were in a motorcycle gang?
